just bashing it out
I'm impressed with the committment of those who have tattooed some tribute to Vonnegut on their precious flesh. I doubt if I'll match your pictorial passion, but I do love me some Vonnegut.

The first book for me was Slaughterhouse-Five. I checked it out of the library and read it all one day during Christmas break from school, I think. It was so good, I couldn't put it down.

Next was Breakfast of Champions, also from the library...I may have done a book report on that one.(I was also able to purchase that hardback @ the library book sale when they replaced it.)

By that time I was hooked, so I started buying the paperbacks. The rest is history.

Not sure if I already had that dark sense of humor and gravitated toward his work for that reason, or if his flavor of mirth merely seeped into me and all my laughter sounded like that from then on.

Re-reading him shows me that he really didn't write like anyone else, though I never noticed at the time. I just thought he was funny, and that he was right about a lot of things, so I kept reading.

I've tried to pass him on to as many people as possible. Here's hoping he never goes out of print again.
